Red Car Brewery & Restaurant

Doug waiting for me to finish taking photos so that we can get in and sample the brews.

Doug and I decided to head out to Torrance, California and visit the Red Car Brewery and Restaurant and get my Growler re-filled with "South Loop" Porter one of our favorites. When we arrived though we were disappointed to discover that there was no "South Loop" Porter today in fact not until Saturday.....bummer! All was not lost though as they did have "South Bay" IPA which is a big IPA coming in at 9.04% ABV / 65 IBU's. Not as good as some of our other IPA favorites but a good one none the less. Since it was happy hour we had an order of Chili Cheese Fries to accompany the IPA and to our delight they were very good.
Adam is very knowledgable about the house brews and of course the numerous micro brews in the SoCal area.

We did sample the Red Car Night Train a seasonal Holiday ale which can be compared to a barley-wine style pale ale. It is unfiltered and has a color that closely resembles a brown ale with modest hints of malt. It will definitely warm you up on a cold winter night with it's 10% ABV and 100 IBU's.
Red Car Owner and Brewmaster Bob Brandt pouring a sample of one his brews.

Also sampled was the "Winsome Wheat," though we are not wheat beer fans it was an enjoyable sampling. After sitting on the pallet for a couple minutes dry mouth becomes apparent, at least with me and a full glass of water is a must. We also tried "Motorman" another amber colored ale which we enjoyed as well though I wouldn't probably order it again, just not my style of beer.

My favorite is still the "South Loop" porter and I can hardly wait until brewer Bob Brandt congers up another batch of the heavenly dark liquid so that I can re-fill my empty growler.
Cheers
Michael
